Expectant Mothers

Please make an appointment to meet a midwife or your OB/GYN at Valsayn Medical approximately 4-6 weeks before your due date.

During this appointment, we will 

  • discuss your birth plan

  • answer any questions you may have and address any concerns you may have about the birthing process

  • discuss and complete Admissions and Consent to Treatment forms, which may be more difficult to fill in on the day of delivery

  • record medical information, such as information concerning allergies, which may be more difficult to collect at the time of delivery

  • give you a tour of the birthing room, the nursery and the ward

On the day of admission for the delivery of your baby, we ask the expectant mother to ensure they have with them:

  • 3 nightgowns (preferably button-downs)

  • non-skid slippers

  • at least 4 pairs of underwear and 2 bras

  • 2 packs of maternity pads

  • a towel and washcloth

  • a hairbrush or comb

  • toothbrush

  • toiletries

  • a separate bag for used clothing

For the baby/ babies

  • at least 3 onesies

  • 2 pairs of socks or booties

  • two hats

  • at least 4 vests (with or without sleeves)

  • 1 pack of disposable diapers

  • Wet wipes

  • Baby Soap, Baby Lotion and Baby brush are optional

Please ensure that you have an infant car seat with you on the day of discharge.
